Chik is made by Grandma - a joint-venture by the brains behind Absurdity and JF Studio. Basically we're two studio owners who got tired of bloated project and task management software and decided to do it better.
Good question, we see the confusion! A team member is a member of your team with full access to all tasks created or assigned to your team. Then, think of collaborators as a client. A collaborator only have access to specific tasks that you assign to them, they can also assign tasks to you.
Upgrading to Chik+
Chik+ is a paid membership with Chik. We have big plans for Chik+ and you can see it on our roadmap, however right now you get unlimited team members and collaborators when you subscribe to Chik+. Apart from that you will also lock in your early founders status if you upgrade today, locking in special perks as we continue to develop Chik.
If you haven't already, please create an account from our home page. Once logged you'll find prompts asking you to upgrade Chik+, click it, follow the steps, and you'll be set.
Collaborating with clients
To invite your client as a collaborator they first need to create an account. Ask them to sign up via chik.app, complete their profile, then from the dashboard head over to Collaborators page. There they'll find a "Team ID", ask them to copy this id and share with you. Then lastly simply invite them via the Collaborators page in your account, and ask them to accept the invite.
A collaborator have access only to tasks that you assign them. Think of these as a client that you're working with. They'll be able to assign tasks to you, upload attachments, use the live chat, etc.
Free users have a maximum of 3 collaborators. However all Chik+ users have unlimited collaborators.
Team members
A team consists of team members, each team member have full access to all tasks assigned to your team. These are useful when working long-term with in-house contractors or freelancers etc.
Once logged in, head over to "Profile" and scroll down. There you'll find a list of existing team members as well as a form to invite new ones. If you don't see the invite form it's likely because you've hit the free limit and you'll need to upgrade to Chik+.
Account & privacy
Yes. We have very strong opinions about privacy and therefore we do not collect, share, sell any of your data. Chik is entirely hosted in Europe (Germany) and we use privacy-first analytics Fathom Analytics for our website.
